Appeal court denies Nnamdi Kanu bail

       
       The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed the decision of the Federal High Court to deny the bail application of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. In its ruling this morning, the three man panel of the Appeal court led by Justice Abdul Aboki, ruled that the lower court was right in denying Kanu bail considering the nature and the circumstances of his case.

       Manchester United have sacked first team manager, Louis van Gaal, according to british media reports. The Dutchman’s departure had been widely expected despite United’s FA Cup win over Crystal Palace, with Sky sources understanding Jose Mourinho is set to take over.After a meeting with employment lawyer Paul Gilroy QC at the club’s Carrington training base on Monday morning, it appears Van Gaal and United have now gone their separate ways.

       Wayne Rooney admitted Manchester United have fallen short of expectations despite winning the FA Cup as rumours swirled that Louis van Gaal is set to be replaced by Jose Mourinho. United manager Van Gaal was in defiant mood on Saturday as he celebrated United's 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace by parading the FA Cup in front of the media while refusing to discuss the growing possibility he will be sacked in the next few days. Just minutes after the final whistle at Wembley signalled United's first trophy in Van Gaal's two-year reign, reports emerged that former Chelsea boss Mourinho was on the verge of agreeing a deal to take charge at Old Trafford.

       Concerned friends and relatives rushed to Anna Yara's aid as she sat wailing on a pew in a church in Cairo, during the funeral of her 'perfect' granddaughter Yara Hani Tawfik. Nahla Wagih, a friend of Miss Tawfik, said: 'It is so sad to see the family in this state. There are no words to describe her loss. Yara was the perfect daughter and grand-daughter. The family must be broken.'

          Wreckage of EgyptAir flight MS804 has been found south of the Greek island of Karpathos, Egyptian aviation officials confirmed. The Airbus A320 was en route from Paris to Cairo with 66 passengers and crew when it went down overnight.

Former NIMASA Boss Sentenced to Five Years Imprisonment Over Contract Scam

        A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has sentenced a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration Safety Agency, Raymond Temisan Omatseye, to five years in prison over a N1.5bn contract scam.
 Omatseye was arraigned before the court today May 20 on a 27-count charge bordering on alleged contract variation, bid rigging and awarding contract above his approval limit

         According to The Canadian Press, A Canadian woman from Kitchener, Ontario, ended up in a lake  on May 12 after following her car's GPS directions.The 23-year-old driver's visibility was impaired that night due to rain and fog, which resulted in her taking a deadly wrong turn into Lake Huron.

Fuel Price Hike: FG Reaches Agreement With Ajaero-Led NLC

    The federal government has reached an agreement with the Joe Ajaero led faction of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to set up a committee to resolve agitations over the new pump price of petrol.


The committee is expected to address the downward review of the pump price, determine new minimum wage and consult with the PPPRA for effective price regulation of petroleum products.

Industrial court restrains Nigeria Labour Congress from going on strike tommorrow


      The National Industrial Court has granted an interim order restraining the Nigeria Labor Congress and all its allies from embarking on any strike action. The Federal government this morning approached the court asking the court to stop the proposed strike action by NLC.

‘One million poor Nigerians to be paid N5000 monthly in 2016’ – Osinbajo

   
The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo said one million poor Nigerians will be paid N5000 monthly as it has been appropriated for in the recently passed 2016 budget. In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, Osinbajo said N68.7 billion has been budget for this purpose.
