NIMASA reopen three jetties and port facilities recently closed

    Following their partial compliance and written commitments to remedy all identified deficiencies of the International Ship and Port Facility Security ,ISPS, Code, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety agency ,NIMASA, has reopened three jetties and port facilities recently closed.

    According to a statement signed by the agency’s Spokesperson, LamiTumaka  said the facilities are Heyden Petroleum Jetty Ijora Lagos; Waziri Jetty, Dockyard Road Apapa Lagos and Starz Marine Shipyard Limited Onne in Rivers State.
   It stated that all three facilities have already taken steps towards complying with the provisions of the code and also provided commitments in writing to the Agency to remedy the lapses that led to the initial closure within the shortest time possible.
    According to the Director General, Dr. DakukuPeterside, said that the facilities were reopened because of the steps already taken and the commitment given by the owners.
He further stated that NIMASA will however not hesitate to sanction any other facilities that contravene the provisions of the ISPS code which they have resolved to fully implement in Nigeria”.
