Federal Government increases Value Added Tax on champagne and other luxury items
The Federal Executive Council has approved the revised National Tax Policy. The policy will see the Value Added Tax on luxury items, like champagne, increasing from the current five per cent, among other changes.
Delta State House of Assembly Passes 2017 Appropriation bill
Delta State House of Assembly has passed the 2017 Appropriation bill of over N294.4 billion. A report presented to the House by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Erhitiake Ibori, said that the committee received and collated inputs, observations and recommendations from the various sub-committees and considered them one after the other, which were used in arriving at certain decisions as proposed estimates were reduced to certain areas to effect increase in other critical areas of specific needs.

The Federal Government has approved the setting up of a Task Force to address the rising cost of food items across the country.
