Chelsea Sign High Flying Ajax Forward, Redan



    Chelsea have signed Ajax’s 16-year-old wonderkid Daishawn Redan. They have beaten Manchester United and RB Liepzig in signing the wonderkid. The teenage striker has been one of the most prolific in Ajax’s youth set up since he joined at the age of eight and will join Chelsea’s academy at Cobham Training Centre on July 1.

     Barcelona are set to release veteran defender Jeremy Matheiu although he has a year left on his contract.
 
The 34 year old played only 16 matches for Barcelona in all competitions last season, scoring just a single goal. Injuries hampered his campaign, with muscular, ankle and Achilles problems reducing his game time and meaning that he started only twice since picking up a knock against Atletico Madrid in a 2-1 February win.

FG to mobilise N2.5bn private investment for YouWin SMEs

 
      The Federal Government on Thursday said it would mobilise the sum of N2.5bn annually as equity investment through qualified fund managers for Small and Medium Enterprises under the Youth With Innovation Entrepreneurship program. The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance and signed by the Director of Information in the ministry, Mr Salisu Dambatta.

    Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday urged state governors must safeguard the lives and properties of all citizens residing in their states. Osinbajo, who gave the advice at a consultative meeting with the governors at the Presidential Banquet, Abuja, said the directive had become imperative in view of the fact that “Nigeria is indissoluble’’.

Court jails 68-year-old man for pension scam

 

    A 68-year-old man, Mr. Deemua Increase, has been convicted by a Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, for using forged documents to get himself enrolled on the Rivers State Government pension payroll. Increase, a father of nine, was sentenced to a jail term of one month by Justice M. O. Opara with no option of fine after he pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against him.

Indonesia to build a refinery in Nigeria

 
   The Federal Government’s plan to attract investment in modular refineries as part of efforts to boost local refining capacity, gained momentum yesterday with an Indonesian firm, PT Intim Perkasa Nigeria Ltd, a subsidiary of PT Intim Perkasa, Indonesia, indicating interest to build a refinery in Nigeria.

Crime: Single Mother Of 4 Dupes Facebook Lover Of N5 Million In Lagos

 

     A single mother of four, Aishat Akintunde, 33, has been arrested in Lagos for allegedly defrauding her Facebook lover of money and properties valued at about N5 million.
Police alleged that Akintunde, a resident of Egbado road, Dalemo, Alakuko, Alagbada, Lagos and hailed from Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria allegedly succeeded in defrauding her France-based victim, Ayobami Adeniyi after she promised to marry him and also helped him purchase a filling station in Nigeria.

Policeman allegedly caught on tape extorting money with POS in Lagos

 

   The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday arrested and detained a policeman attached to the Makinde Police Division over allegation of extortion.

   The man, whose identity was concealed in a seven-second footage recorded by a female motorist! was shown holding what looked like a Point of Sale, POS, terminal. He was seen taking what appeared like an Automated Teller Machine card from a man who had disembarked from a motorcycle.

Los Angeles set to rename road after Obama


 

      The president of the Los Angeles City Council said he has introduced a motion to rename the street in the city after the former US President. Councilman Herb J. Wesson Jr. announced the initiative on his twitter account, saying that he wanted to change the name of a street in his district from “Rodeo Road” to “Obama Boulevard.”

17 Nigerian scholars move to Brazil
