Cristiano Ronaldo shares first photo of the twins he welcomed via a surrogate

   

   Cristiano Ronaldo has finally shared a heartwarming photograph of his twins born via a surrogate mother. The 32-year-old footballer confirmed on Facebook yesterday that he was leaving the FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia to be with his new babies for the first time.
    He uploaded the picture via Instagram this evening and wrote: "So happy to be able to hold the two new loves of my life."

Obasanjo calls for common currency to boost ECOWAS trade

 

   Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday called on the leaders of the Economic Community of West African States to agree on common currency to boost the regional trade. Obasanjo made the call at the ongoing 24th Annual General Meeting of the African Export-Import Bank in Kigali.

Kidnap kingpin, Evans, files fresh suit against police, seeks N300m in damages

 

    Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans, has again dragged the Inspector General of Police, and three others before a Federal High Court in Lagos over his alleged illegal detention. In the new suit filed on Thursday, Evans is claiming N300m as general and exemplary damages against the police for alleged illegal detention and unconstitutional media trial.

European Court sentences baby to death

 

    A European Human Rights Court has given its verdict on a case of human rights that will compel a couple to allow their sick baby to die.

   The parents of the baby Chris Gard and Connie Yates have been in a long legal battle to save their baby who is suffering from a serious genetic illness. The baby is currently on life support while treatment options were being considered.

Presidency explains why presidential jet remains with Buhari in London

    The retention of the Presidential Aircraft, NAF 001, in London where President Muhammadu Buhari is currently receiving medical attention was borne out protocol, national security, diplomacy and prestige.

  The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said this in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja.  Shehu was reacting to recent reports especially on the social media over an outrageous fee allegedly being paid for parking the aircraft in London since May 10 when Buhari embarked on his second medical vacation for the year. He said there is no world leader who travels abroad and is left without plans for immediate return or possible evacuation.

EFCC Nab NABDA DG over alleged N23m scam

 
   The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has arrested Prof. Lucy  Ogbadu, the Director-General of National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), over alleged N23 million fraud. Spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, disclosed this in a statement he issued on Thursday.

    To celebrate the 2017 International Widows’ Day, wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode on Thursday empowered at least 103 widows across age category with financial assistance, equipment support and skills training programme, during an event organized by her foundation, Hope for Women in Nigeria Initiative, HOFOWEM, at Oregun, Ikeja. Empowerment materials distributed to the women included deep freezers, industrial gas cookers, photocopiers, grinding machines, embroidery machines, professional cameras, refrigerators, whipping machines and ovens, bag sewing machines, grinding machines, among others.

    The widows of four of nine men executed by Nigeria’s military regime in 1995 have filed a civil lawsuit seeking compensation and an apology from Royal Dutch Shell. The widows are Esther Kiobel, Victoria Bera, Blessing Eawo and Charity Levula.
