Court Dismisses Suit Seeking To Remove Kebbi Governor

 
  A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja division has dismmised a suit seeking the removal of Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu for lacking in merit.

   President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday left Katsina for Nouakchott, Mauritania, to attend the 31st Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
   The summit will hold from June 30 to July 2. The presidential aircraft conveying the president and other members of his entourage to Mauritania took off at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, Katsina, about 10. 20 a.m.

NUPENG Threatens Nationwide Strike Over 300 Sacked Oil Workers

 

  There are indications that Nigerians may experience another round of fuel scarcity soon as the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers have threatened to embark on a nationwide strike. NUPENG said the planned strike was as a result of the alleged sacking of 300 of its members by some oil companies.

  A three year old boy has been declared missing after being involved in the Lagos tanker explosion at Otedola Bridge yesterday.

NCC Withdraws 36 Million Redundant Lines For Effective Management Of Telecom Facilities

 
 
   The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) said yesterday that about 36 million redundant lines of subscribers have been withdrawn in the past few months so as to give room for effective management of telecom facilities.

     Its Executive Vice Chairman Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta said the lines had to be withdrawn because “we do not have time to allow resources to waste. The intention is to ensure that all resources at our disposal, number resources, spectrum resources are put into good use and benefit of this country”.

Tanker Explosion In Lagos, 9 Die, 54 Vehicles Burnt

   

   No fewer than nine people died and about 54 vehicles burnt yesterday during a tanker fire outbreak on Otedola Bridge, a Lagos suburb on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Four people , two of them critically  were injured as those caught in the fire tried to escape.

Justice John Tsoho chose the date after listening to IGP’s lawyer, Alex Izinyon (SAN), argued on behalf of his client and urged the court to grant the plaintiff’s prayers.

FAAN Recovers 17 Vehicles From Ex-Officials

 

   The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has taken possession of 17 vehicles recovered from its former officials by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC). The vehicles were retrieved from officials of FAAN, who were removed from office in the last few years, but failed to hand them over to the authority.
