A plateau lawmaker representing Pengana constituency of Bassa Local Government Area in Plateau State House of Assembly, Ezekiel Afon is dead.
The lawmaker, formerly who defected from Peoples Democratic Party to All Progressives Congress, APC was re-elected in the just-concluded House of Assembly election .
Afon, who was said to be ill before the election, died a few hours after being declared winner. Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, Bashir Sati confirmed the lawmaker’s death on Sunday in Jos.
Sati said, “It is unfortunate that we lost Afon, one of the most dedicated members of our party and a committed lawmaker just after he was declared winner to occupy his seat again.
He added that “Though he has been sick for a while but we received the news of his demise with rude shock.” “Yes, I was at the collation centre when I was called that Hon. Ezekiel Afon is dead. He was sick and was taken out of the country for treatment, but I was told that he died today.”
