The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu has restricted all forms of protests within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to the Unity Fountain.
He explained that the order was part of efforts by the police to ensure safety and security of life and property, the free flow of traffic and protection of commerce and other economic activities.
It also said the order will assist personnel of the Force to coordinate and handle peaceful protests. A statement yesterday in Abuja, the nation’s capital, by the Force spokesman Frank Mba, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), urged intending protesters to steer clear of all critical national infrastructure, especially the Three Arms Zone and other sensitive security areas.
