Nyesom Wike's election as the Governor of Rivers State has been upheld by the Supreme court. A petition filed by the African Action Congress (AAC) and its candidate in the 2019 governorship election, Awara Biokpomabo Festus which was upheld by the Court of Appeal was upturned by the Supreme Court in its ruling on Friday October 25.
Justice Ejembi Eko who delivered the judgement on behalf of a seven-man panel of the apex court, upheld the two appeals by Wike on the grounds that they were meritorious.
