For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

The living Word of Almighty God is the only power strong enough to discipline your flesh. It’s the only power that can cause you to think, look, talk and act like a born-again man.

Topic: Spiritual Sensitivity [Billy Graham Devotional 8 March 2019]
Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when you love these things you show that you do not really love God . . . — 1 John 2:15 (TLB)

There are certain elements of daily life which are not sinful in themselves but which have a tendency to lead to sin if they are abused. Abuse literally means “extreme use” and, in many instances, overuse of things lawful becomes sin. Ambition is an essential part of character, but it must be fixed on lawful objects and exercised in proper proportion. Thought about the necessities of life and taking care of one’s family is absolutely essential; but this can degenerate into anxiety, and then, as Christ reminded us, the cares of this life choke the spiritual seed in the heart.

Matthew 6:21, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Text: Matthew 6:19-21

If isolated from the rest of God’s Word, there are some scriptures that could be interpreted to mean that having money or wealth is wrong. However there are other scriptures that speak of riches as a blessing. The harmony between these two apparently opposite positions is that money is neither good nor bad. It is the love of money that is the root of all evil, and many have committed the sin of loving money who don’t even have a dime (1 Tim. 6:10)! The love of things (covetousness) is idolatry, and this is what Jesus is addressing.

Are You Offended With God by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Are You Offended With God by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Matt.11: 6 – And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Offense is simply a negative reaction to an unpleasant situation. John the Baptist was offended because he was in prison and Jesus did nothing about it.

John the Baptist was utterly loyal to Jesus. He walked a life of total self-denial. He gave everything up for his God. And now he finds himself in a cold prison.
