Luke 23:11 ‘And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.’

LUKE 23:11

All of Christ’s sufferings did not end when He finished His earthly ministry.

He still takes the persecution of His people personally as is revealed by His statement to Saul on the road to Damascus: ‘Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?’ He didn’t ask Paul why he was persecuting His people. He said, ‘Why are you persecuting Me?’ When we are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, it is actually Christ who is being persecuted.

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. — John 10:10

In God’s economy, you must go down into the valley of grief before you can scale the heights of spiritual glory. You must become tired and weary of living alone before you seek and find the fellowship of Christ.

Remember your leaders and superiors in authority, [for it was they] who brought to you the Word of God. Observe attentively and consider their manner of living…and imitate their faith. – Hebrews 13:7, The Amplified Bible

Apart from the Word of God itself and prayer, nothing can do more for you than watching and imitating a real man of faith. I found that out in a big way many years ago when I was a student at Oral Roberts University. As co-pilot on the airplane that transported him and his staff to his healing meetings, I had the opportunity to study Oral Roberts up close. I followed him around. I heard him preach. I watched him lay hands on the sick.

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” – James 5:16 KJV

If I tell you the things I am going through, would you keep your mouth shut? If I come to tell you where the shoe is pinching me, will it stay between the two of us and you pray about it for me? Sometimes, you tell some pastors your issue and they go on to preach on it or at most they make it a prayer topic. If I tell you my issue, would you cover me, pray with me and help me stand up again? That is what James was saying when he says ‘Confess ye your faults one to another, and pray for one another that you may be healed.

Key Verse: “Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud” – (Psalm 94:2).

Ideally everyone loves to have good things and hear good news. Indeed, speaking on the impact of good news, the Holy Spirit says in Proverbs 25:25:

“As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.”
