Mahrez, Mane, Salah norminated for African Footballer award

Liverpool pair Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, plus Riyad Mahrez from Manchester City, were named as the three candidates for this year’s African Footballer of the Year award, to be decided next month.

Senegal talisman Mane will be the favourite for the award ahead of his Egyptian club mate after Liverpool won the UEFA Champions League. However, he faces stiff opposition from Mahrez, who won the English Premier League with Manchester City and also captained Algeria to the Africa Cup of Nations title in mid-year.

Popular Ekiosa market in benin razed down by fire

Popular Ekiosa market was on Sunday razed without a fire-fighting truck on ground to put out the fire. The Commander of the FFS, Bidemi Jeremiah, during a street march to announce its presence in the state, said the agency was ready to tackle fire emergencies.

But throughout the four hours that fire razed the Ekiosa market, men of the FFS or the Edo Fire Service failed to respond to distress calls. The fire started at the Ekiosa market from the goat line at about 11am and lasted for more than four hours, spreading through the market.

Nigerian govt to meet with U.S govt over ‘Special Watch List’

The Nigerian government will early next year, meet with the U.S government over its decision to place Nigeria on its Watch List

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on this development, Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said placing Nigeria on the Watch list does make Nigeria a country of concern on religious freedom.

He added that placing Nigeria on U.S. watch list carries no immediate implication, and that does not in any way make the country an area of concern as being asserted in some quarters. The presidential aide maintained that Nigeria as a geo-political entity had no policy that promotes one religion against the other.

Unilorin, Fulokoja back to join ASUU ― Ogunyemi

Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, National President, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), said the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) and the Federal University, Lokoja (Fulokoja), are now fully back in ASUU.

The ASUU president revealed this while debunking the insinuation in some quarters that the union now has a splinter group. “I visited the place and I met with a few people that said they were dissatisfied with the way the union was being run in the branch. “After engaging them, they said that they were ready to join the union and so they are going back to ASUU.’’

Ogunyemi made the clarification when he featured on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Forum in Abuja on Sunday, noting that since the University of Ilorin and Federal University of Lokoja are now ready to associate themselves with the union, they can in no way be insinuated to be a splinter group of ASUU.

John 20:25 “The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

With long life will I satisfy [you], and show [you] my salvation. – Psalm 91:16
Did you know that it’s not God’s will for you or anyone to die young? His will for you is to live the full number of your days. You ought to live 70 or 80 years, and if you are not satisfied, live awhile longer! The Bible says that when Abraham died, he died at a good old age, full of years. That’s the way it ought to be with all of us.

Some believers don’t realize that and they’ve gotten themselves in a mess. When they get sick, instead of just believing for healing, they start wondering if it’s God’s will for them to die. Maybe He’s ready to call me home, they think.

Memorise: “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” – 1 John 3:1

Read: Romans 8:14-17 (KJV)

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
