Choose you this day whom ye will serve. – Joshua 24:15

Choosing to side with God’s Word is a continual challenge. It’s not something you do just once. It’s a process of choosing to believe and act upon the Word of God over and over in every circumstance.

That’s what everyone has to do. Years ago I decided I was going to choose Jesus. Since then I’ve had to choose Him again and again in situations every day. I’ve chosen Him as my Lord and Savior. I’ve chosen Him as my Healer. I’ve chosen Him as my Financier. I’ve chosen Him as head of my household. I’ve chosen Him as head of this ministry. And I still have to choose Him moment by moment.

Paul before his conversion was not meek. Proudly and brutally, he apprehended all Christians and sought to destroy them. He was bigoted, selfish, and vaunted. But when he wrote his warm and affectionate letter to the churches of Galatia, he said, among other things, “The fruit of the Spirit is . . . gentleness, goodness . . . meekness.”

Text: Isaiah 26:12-21

12 LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.

13 O LORD our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.

14 They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.

15 Thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.

16 LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.

17 Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD.

18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

We are all involved in the battle to defeat an enemy. But we must understand the nature of our warfare. Our warfare is a battle between two opposing forces. It is the battle between the devil and Jesus. The first Adam fought, and he was defeated. He wasn’t able to stand on the Word that was spoken.

Memorise: “Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.” – 1 Samuel 2:3

Read: Acts 5:1-11 (KJV)

1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

Have you ever noticed that the easiest place to remain self-centered is at home? There’s an incentive to be lovely with others, but with your family you are tempted to allow yourself more selfish privileges, as if it didn’t count there.

Who is a God like unto thee . . . he delighteth in mercy. — Micah 7:18

Many people want to hear what God says just out of curiosity. They want to analyze and dissect it in their own test tubes. To these people, God may remain the great cosmic silence “out there somewhere.” He communicates to those who are willing to hear and receive Him, and willing to obey Him.

Jesus said that we must become humble as little children, and God has most often revealed Himself to the meek and the humble—to a shepherd boy like David, to a rough desert man like John the Baptist, to shepherds watching their flocks, to a girl named Mary. How does God speak? How can a blind man see? How can a deaf man hear?

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12 KJV

Until you recognize the enemy you are fighting with, you cannot effectively engage him. If you cannot recognize the enemy’s modus operandi, you won’t know what you’re fighting. And that already spells defeat for you ever before the battle starts, but understanding will make you win the battle even before the battle starts

The real warfare we are engaged with is not a battle of guns and bullets. It is not a battle of bows and arrows. It is the fight of faith. And the Bible calls it “the good fight of faith”. That sounds like a paradox! How can any fight for that matter be good! The fight is not good!

So why is this fight a good fight? The outcome of this fight is already determined and settled! It is already determined that you are winning. It is a settled issue. You are already a winner based on what Christ did for us. Christ secured our winning position ever before we came on the scene. It is a good fight! And it is already determined!

Prayer and Prosperity by David Ibiyeomie

Prayer and Prosperity by David Ibiyeomie

Acts 10:4 (KJV) And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

Prayer is an earthly license that compels heavenly interference and intervention. It is communicating with God on the basis of His Word and our relationship with Him. God’s awesome ability and power is enjoyed through prayers.

As a child of God, when you are prayerless, you become powerless because we draw God’s power through prayer. God’s presence is constant but His manifesting power varies. You draw power through prayer in His presence. No economic circumstance can hold you down when you know what to do as a child of God.

Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV) But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Prosperity is the state of all round well-being (physically, mentally and materially) according to 3 John 1:2 (KJV) Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Financial prosperity on the other hand is having enough of God’s provision to promote the Kingdom of God, to meet our needs and the genuine needs of others according to 2 Corinthians 9:8 (KJV) And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Banker's wife impregnated by her children's lesson teacher

Felicia Adikwu, a Jukun by tribe, is right now in a dilemma. She is pregnant for her children’s extramural studies teacher, popularly called “lesson teacher” in Nigeria and, she doesn’t know what to do about it. She is full of regret for her ill-advised action that is now threatening to tear her marriage apart.

The young woman who holds a diploma in Public Administration from the state polytechnic, got married to Mr. Joseph Adikwu, a holder of HND in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa. He used to work with a bank in Lafia where they both live before he was transferred, sometime last year, to the bank’s branch in Gombe State. And things appeared to be going on smoothly, as planned until Joseph left for Gombe.

Excess Crude Account drops from $325m to $70m

Experts on Wednesday expressed concern following a report that the Excess Crude Account(ECA) was depleted from $325 million to $70 million within a month. The experts blamed it on profound revenue challenges and lack of rules governing deposits and withdrawals from the special account.

They argued that the depletion would not have been  so massive if   state governors had not insisted on   sharing of monies in the ECA,  a special account for keeping  extra oil revenue above budgeted oil benchmark. The implication of the drop, according to them, is a likely crash of the exchange rate, which invariably would result in  devaluation of the naira.

A statement from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC)   yesterday said the strategic reserve account now has $71.814 million down from the $324.968 million recorded on   January 15. Details of the huge depletion was not provided by the FAAC team that issued the statement. Last month, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) warned the fiscal authorities to build up buffers against revenue shocks by saving for the rainy day.

Text: John 12:27-50

27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

Joy. It’s not a warm, happy feeling you’re supposed to have now and then when things are going well. It’s much more than that. Joy is one of the most powerful spiritual forces in the world.

Look again at Nehemiah 8:10 and I’ll show you why. If you were to diagram that scripture and remove the phrase, “of the Lord,” you would find what it’s truly saying is this: Joy is strength. The two are interchangeable.

I have heard people say that the moment you give your life to Christ, you can live anyhow and heaven is guaranteed. Child of God, yes, the moment you give your life to Christ, a new spirit is born inside you and you become a new man. This is perfectly true, and you are heaven ready.
