Bees sting players, officials during football match in Tanzania



      A football match was recently disrupted in Tanzania following the sudden invasion of the football pitch by a swarm of bees. The match was a Federation Cup match between Young Africans (Yanga) and Iringa United which was played on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Policeman Arrested For Shooting Corps Member, Two Others In Bayelsa

 

   The Bayelsa State Police Command says they have arrested a mobile police officer for unlawful use of his firearm, shooting a corp member and two others. A statement released by the command on Tuesday said the suspect was arrested on the orders of the State Commissioner of Police, Uche Anozia and he is currently in detention at the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation  Department (SCID), Yenagoa.

   “The authorities of Bayelsa Police Command have arrested and taken into custody one Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel for suspicion of Discreditable Conduct and Unlawful Use of his Firearm.

Court halts further demolition of Saraki’s property

 

   A Kwara State High Court has issued an ex-parte injunction restraining the Kwara State Government from further demolition of late Olusola Saraki’s property. Recall that in the last few days, the demolition of Ile Arugbo which served as the political home of the late Kwara politician sparked off mixed reactions.

   In the judgement delivered in Ilorin on Monday January 6, the Kwara state government was ordered not to go near the land “either to construct or do anything on the land pending the determination of the Motion on Notice.”

President Buhari can’t intervene in increased electricity charges – Femi Adesina

 

   The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Femi Adesina has revealed why the Nigerian leader can't intervene in the decision of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to increase electricity charges.

   According to the Presidential spokesperson, the decision to increase electricity tariff is within the purview of the Ministry of Power and NERC and President Buhari can only be consulted as last resort.  Femi Adesina who appeared on Channels Television's Politics Today programme on Monday January 6, added that it is too early for President Buhari to wade into the matter.
