These resolutions were made at the end of the party’s 87th National Executive Council Emergency Meeting held at the main opposition party’s headquarters in Abuja. PDP said, “This s a miscarriage of Justice. Justice will come under God Almighty. But we must work, we must speak out, otherwise, it means we have consented to the injustice from the ruling party, APC”.

EFCC Urges Court To Dismiss Former Ayodele Fayose’s Application Over Alleged N2.2bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, January 16, 2020, asked     Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos to dismiss an application filed by former governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose, who is being prosecuted for alleged N2.2billion fraud. The EFCC is prosecuting Fayose alongside his company, Spotless Investment Limited, on an 11-count charge, bordering on fraud and money laundering to the tune of N2.2billion.

The matter started before Justice Olatoregun, but was subsequently re-assigned to Justice Aneke. At the resumed sitting today, counsel to the defendant, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, told the court that there is an interlocutory summons filed by the defendant on December 2, 2019. Ojo further stated that the move by the prosecution to call a fifth prosecution witness, PW5, to give evidence in line with his extra-judicial statement was an abuse of court process, adding that “he was previously not listed as a witness in the matter, while it was before Justice Olatoregun.”

UK makes fresh bid to confiscate Ibori’s £117m assets

British prosecutor launched a fresh attempt on Thursday to confiscate tens of millions of pounds stolen from an oil-producing state in Nigeria by its former governor, who was convicted of laundering his loot in Britain.

James Ibori, who was governor of Delta State from 1999 to 2007, pleaded guilty at London’s Southwark Crown Court in 2012 to 10 counts of fraud and money-laundering. He received a 13-year jail sentence.

The case was a rare example of a prominent Nigerian politician being punished for his part in the endemic corruption that has blighted Africa’s most populous country for decades. Since then, several other Nigerian former state governors have been convicted in their own country.

Having served half of his sentence in pre- and post-trial detention, Ibori was released from jail in December 2016 and is now back in Nigeria. In 2013, a first attempt was made in Britain to confiscate his assets, but it was aborted after three weeks of hearings because of unresolved legal disputes.

Text: Matthew 15:32-39

32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.

Key Verse: “Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way” – (Matthew 15:32).

Matthew 2:13, “…for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”

Text: Matthew 2:13-15

Herod had ruled over Judaea for nearly forty three years at the time of these events. He had the title of King conferred on him by the Roman senate at the recommendation of Antony and Octavius. His accomplishments included the building of the temple in Jerusalem which was one of the most magnificent structures in the world. Most people would have thought that Herod had it “made”.

However, history reveals that Herod was extremely paranoid. He actually killed his wife and one of his sons because he feared they would take the kingdom from him. All his power and fame couldn’t buy him the peace that the angels proclaimed (Lk. 2:8-14). His paranoia led him to kill the innocent children in Bethlehem. His insecurity was evident. He had everything and yet he had nothing.

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland Devotional 17 January 2020 – Let God Do It His Way

Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean. But Naaman was angry…. – 2 Kings 5:10-11, The Amplified Bible

So often we miss out on what God wants to do for us because He doesn’t do it the way we think He should. We work up an idea in our minds about how He’s going to heal us, for instance. We think He’s going to send some famous preacher to lay hands on us or that He’s going to knock us off our feet with a blast of His power. When He doesn’t, we let our faith drop and foul up what He had actually planned to do.

That’s what Naaman did. He went to Elisha expecting to be healed in a particular way. When it didn’t happen that way, the Bible says, he went away in a rage.

What Elisha told him to do was simple. Dip seven times in the Jordan. Naaman could do that. But it didn’t fit his idea of how his healing should take place. He thought Elisha would heal him by waving his hands around and calling on the Name of the Lord.

Naaman stormed away and he would have missed out on his healing if one of his servants hadn’t talked him into giving Elisha’s instructions a try.

I used to be like that. I wanted spectacular experiences from God so badly I was missing out on the experiences God had planned for me. Once I realized that, I quit looking for feelings and spectacular manifestations and just started expecting God to keep His Word.

I remember I went to a meeting one night with my ankle messed up terribly. The pain was so severe it went from my foot all the way up to my shoulder blades. But I went into that meeting expecting God to heal me.

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. — John 8:32

Ours is an age of philosophical uncertainty, and we no longer know what we believe. We stand uncommitted. Everywhere I go, I ask students, “What is controlling you?” When I was a student, I had to face Christ. Who was He? He had made the astounding claim, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me.” I wrestled with the inescapable fact that either Jesus Christ was who He claimed to be, or He was the biggest liar, fraud, and charlatan in history.

Open Heaven 17 January 2020 Friday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – How Hungry Are You?

Memorise: “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” – Matthew 5:6

Read: Psalm 42:1-8 (KJV)

1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.

7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

Topic: Lay Hold On Your Heritage [TREM Devotional 17 January 2019]

“How we praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every blessing in heaven because we belong to Christ”. Ephesians 1:3 (TLB)

One of the things I have said repeatedly is that any prayer that puts the full responsibility of the outcome on God is an irresponsible prayer. God will not do for you what He expects you to do for yourself.

Take for instance a mother who has prepared a sumptuous meal for her child and the table is well set, but the child sits on the table and cries for hunger. Can you imagine that? Of course not. But many believers are doing just that. They are sitting at the banqueting table, staring and the food and crying for hunger. Beloved, you must begin to lay hold on your heritage. Just like in the natural, if they give a will and you don’t fight for it, others will take it from you. God wants us to declare and enforce your heritage. It belongs to you!
