Cristiano Ronaldo’s mum rushed to hospital due to stroke

 

 Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, 65, has been rushed to hospital after suffering a stroke, newspapers in her native Madeira reported today. According to reports, she was admitted to Dr Nelio Mendonca Hospital at about 5a.m today.

   Local media said the 65 year-old mother of four is ‘conscious and stable.’ She is due to undergo new tests in the next few hours to determine her state of health. One local report said she has suffered an ischemic stroke, caused by a blood clot that blocks or plugs a blood vessel in the brain.

Cross River assembly rejects chief judge designate because she is from Akwa Ibom

 

    The Cross River state house of assembly has rejected the appointment of Akon Ikpeme as substantive chief judge of the state because she is from Akwa Ibom, even though she is married to a Cross Riverian.  In a voice vote at a plenary session on Monday, the assembly rejected Ikpeme’s appointment after receiving two reports by a divided committee on judiciary that screened her.

   In the first report, Efah Esua, chairman of the committee, recommended the appointment of the candidate, but in the second report, Godwin Akwaji, representing Obudu state constituency, alongside five others, recommended her rejection on the grounds that she is not a native of the state. Ikpeme hails from Akwa Ibom state, but she is married to an indigene of Cross River. After the contradictory reports from the judiciary committee, the assembly made its decision via a voice vote, where the nominee was then rejected.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)- 158 aboard plane with Italian ‘can’t be traced’

 

  The Lagos State Government said it was yet to trace the 158 passengers aboard  the Turkish airliner that flew in the Italian who is Nigeria’s index case of the virus.

  It restated that while some  of the passengers had travelled to other states in Nigeria, others had  gone back to Europe. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated this during a meeting with chairmen of   Local Government Councils, Local Council Development Areas, Community Development  Associations  and All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts  on how to effectively prevent the spread of the virus.

   He  added that  some of the passengers who were contacted on the telephone, gave “false information.” “There were 25 people who came in contact with him at the factory(in Ogun State); there were two drivers and an ambulance driver. We have quarantined those identified so far at our medical facilities and some of them at home. “We are calling them twice a day to check if they are okay. If they develop symptoms, we will bring them to our bio-security facility for test.

Supreme Court Begins Hearing Of PDP, Ihedioha’s Application

   The Supreme Court is hearing the application filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, over the January 14, 2020 judgment which sacked him as the Governor of Imo State.

  Mr. Ihedioha and the PDP, in their applications, claim that the judgment of the apex court which installed Senator Hope Uzodinma as the Governor of Imo State was obtained by fraud. They are therefore praying the seven-man panel of the apex court to review and set aside the judgment.

Music teacher tests positive for coronavirus making leading London drama school shutdown

   

   A leading London drama school has shut because a teacher tested positive for the killer coronavirus that is rapidly sweeping the world.

   The prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, located in the heart of London, will be closed for up to 14 days as a precaution. The unidentified man, thought to be a music teacher, came into contact with a 'limited number' of students last week, the school admitted.
