Lagos State Warns Against Unprescribed Use Of Chloroquine

 

    The senior special assistant to the governor of Lagos state on health matters, Oreoluwa Finnih has warned against massive consumption of Chloroquine by individuals as there has been reported cases of chloroquine poisoning.










Brazil Confirms First Coronavirus Death



   Brazil confirmed its first COVID-19 death on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, as Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro declared a state of emergency over the virus outbreak — though President Jair Bolsonaro condemned what he called “hysteria” over the escalating crisis.

    The South American country’s first victim was a 62-year-old man with underlying health conditions who died Monday in Sao Paulo, authorities said. He was diabetic and had high blood pressure, TV network Globo News reported.

   A cluster of 35 coronavirus cases linked to a marriage ceremony near Sydney and new government measures have hit Australia’s multi-billion-dollar wedding industry and forced many tearful couples to cancel the big day. Restrictions on gatherings of more than 100 people were announced this week in a bid to stem the spread of the virus.

Zimbabwe Reports First Coronavirus Case


     Zimbabwe on Friday reported its first coronavirus case, a man who returned to his home in the tourist resort town of Victoria Falls from Britain at the weekend.

Italian who brought coronavirus to Nigeria is discharged

 

   The unnamed Italian was discharged on Friday night after receiving treatment for nearly a month in Lagos, the state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said Earlier in the week, Nigeria’s health minister Osagie Ehanire said the patient had tested negative and that further tests would be carried out before he could be allowed to go home.

Music legend, Kenny Rogers passes away at 81



  American country music legend Kenny Rogers has died aged 81. A family representative said he "passed away peacefully at home from natural causes". Rogers topped pop and country charts during the 1970s and 1980s, and won three Grammy awards.

Okada riders burn FRSC office over rumoured death of motorcyclist

 

   There was chaos on Friday in Minna, Niger State, when angry commercial okada riders burnt down the office of the Federal Road Safety Corps . The okada riders were angry over the death of one of their colleagues allegedly caused by some FRSC officials.

   It was learnt that the late motorcyclist rode against traffic along the GRA in the state and in a bid to arrest him, the FRSC officials on patrol opened their vehicle door to block his motorcycle. Eyewitnesses said the rider crashed the motorcycle in the process and hit his head on the pavement, leading to a serious injury. He was said to have been rushed to a hospital where he died.
