Court Slams N10m Against DSS For Illegally Detaining Man Who Purchased SIM Card Previously Used By President Buhari’s Daughter

   

   A Federal High Court in Asaba, Delta State, on Thursday slammed the sum of N10m against Nigeria’s lawless secret police, Department of State Services, for illegally detaining Anthony Okolie for 10 weeks for lawfully purchasing a SIM card previously used by President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, Hanan.

Infectious Diseases Bill Should Be Stepped Down- Governors Forum

 

 Governors of the 36 states of the Federation have demanded that the bill be stepped down until all necessary procedures were followed.

The call to step down the bill formed part of the resolutions of the governors after the eighth teleconference meeting of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) which held on Wednesday.

In a statement by the NGF Chairman and Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, the governors noted that a bill of such nature needed proper consultation to gather the pulse of the public before its introduction into the chambers of the National Assembly.

Tekno apologizes to MTV Base for missing show

   

   Popular Nigerian artist and music producer, Tekno has explained and apologized for missing a scheduled MTV Base LIVE show.

  According to an earlier announcement, Tekno was slated to appear on an Instagram Live session with an MTV host. While the show producers went on to apologize to expectant fans, Tekno has also issued an explanation and an apology.

  According to the singer, he had overslept and didn’t know when he lost track of time. He also shared that he looks forward to making it up to his fans.

Borno suspends lockdown

  Borno State Government has called-off the lockdown in the state. The lockdown was imposed three weeks ago after the state recorded its COVID-19 index case. But in a statement on Wednesday night, the Deputy Governor and state Chairman, COVID-19 Response Committee, Usman Kadafur, said the purpose of ordering a lockdown had been achieved.

   He said, “The lockdown is being suspended indefinitely to study the situation for the time being, however, where the situation escalates, the government should revert to the status quo. “The use of facemasks by the public be made mandatory and enforcible.

98 years old COVID-19 patient recovers in Lagos

   
  A 98-year-old female, the oldest COVID-19 patient in Lagos, has been discharged from one of the isolation centres in the state.

Kwara state Governor orders sack of COVID-19 driver, issues query to top officers

 

   Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has directed the sack of a government driver that unilaterally attended to an unkempt person who was evacuated with a COVID-19 ambulance in Ilorin.

He also directed the issuance of queries to top officials of the state ministry of health for failing to act with necessary caution and expertise in the handling of the incident that was recorded in a video footage that has since gone viral.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor totally condemned the shoddy handling of the gentleman in the video who was clearly going through a hard time.

Nigeria Records 184 New Cases Of COVID-19

 

   Nigeria has recorded 184 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing its total infections to 4,971. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control confirmed the new figures in a tweet late Wednesday.
