Buhari sends 2022-2024 MTEF and FSP to national assembly

 


  President Muhammadu Buhari has transmitted the 2022-2024 medium-term expenditure framework (MTEF) and fiscal strategy paper (FSP) to the national assembly. The announcement was made on Thursday July 8 by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila. 

Bandits abduct 14 in Kaduna community

 


     14 people have been kidnapped by bandits at Ungwan Matari within the Sabon Tasha, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

  The bandits who invaded the community which is adjoining Gbagyi villa towards Romi River at about 11pm on Wednesday night, reportedly shot sporadically, broke down fences and windows in a bid to gain access into the houses of the residents they kidnapped.

Senate Approves Buhari’s $6.1bn Foreign Loan Request

   



   The Senate has approved the Federal Government’s request for a $6.1 billion (N2.343 trillion) loan request. The Senate gave the approval on Wednesday after it considered a report from its Committee on Local and Foreign Debt which it earlier directed to work on the loan request.

   Presenting the report on the floor during plenary, the Chairman of the committee, Senator Clifford Ordia said the request is not new as it was approved in the borrowing plan when the National Assembly passed the 2021 budget noting that it would be used to fund the budget deficit.

Fake medical doctor arrested for impersonation of ACP in Kano; confesses to performing series of surgeries


   The Kano State Police Command has arrested an fake medical doctor, Mohammed Aliyu, who allegedly impersonated an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in the state. 

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, June 7, said Aliyu, 45, also confessed to having performed series of surgical operations, injected and prescribed drugs to many patients.

   The Constitutional Court, the nation’s highest judicial body, had sentenced Zuma to 15 months in prison for failing to appear before a commission investigating corruption accusations against him.

   Zuma had ignored an order to appear subsequently after one appearance at the inquiry into corruption, what has become known as “state capture.” While Raymond Zondo, South Africa’s deputy chief justice and the head of the inquiry, had sought to have him jailed for his defiance.

Two buildings collapse in Anambra

   


    24 people have escaped death when two separate buildings under construction collapsed in Anambra State 

   A two-storey building collapsed in Amikwo village, Awka, the state capital in the early hours of Wedneday, July 7 while another two-storey building also collapsed in Oko, Aguata Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, July 6. 

Dubai- Large explosion after Container ship catches fire

   A container ship anchored at Dubai's huge Jebel Ali port caught fire late Wednesday, July 7, the Emirate's media office has reported.

   


According to the report the fire caused an explosion that sent tremors across the commercial hub of the United Arab Emirates.

Dubai's state-run media office said that a team of firefighters was working to control the blaze and there were no immediate reports of casualties. The extent of the damage caused by the explosion to the port and surrounding cargo as at press time is not clear.
