I will never return to APC – Obaseki


    

    Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki has vowed never to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He left the APC in 2020 after he was disqualified from seeking the party’s ticket for re-election. He joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he was reelected for second term.

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared Sunday, July 11, as the first day of Dhul-Hijja 1442AH.

NDLEA intercepts N6.5bn heroin at Lagos airport, declares drug baron wanted

   


A consignment of 26.150kilograms of heroin with a street value of over N6.5 billion has been intercepted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), at the SAHCO shed of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.

   NDLEA’s Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who confirmed the development in a statement, yesterday, said the illicit drug had arrived Lagos in 25 parcels from South Africa, through an Air Peace Airline flight on June 30, 2021, and was detained for screening, following reasonable suspicion of the content of the consignment.

Troops comb Kaduna forest for abducted emir, kids


 Troops have stormed Kaduna forest in search of Emir of Kajuru Alhaji Alhassan Adamu and 10 members of his family kidnapped at the weekend.

  The emir’s abduction is another in the series of abductions in Kaduna in the last one week. The   situation has turned Kaduna to epicenter of abductions in the country, especially of school children. Last week, the state police command said more than 250 school children had been kidnapped in the state in the last one year.
