Yoruba nation agitator Igboho appears in court

     


Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) on Thursday appeared in a Beninoise court in Cotonou on immigration-related offences.

   He is expected back in court Friday, according to a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Yoruba report monitored in Lagos. Information about the nature of the “immigration-related offences” remained scanty last night. The charges against him could also not be ascertained. But he was represented by a Beninoise lawyer, it was learnt.

Christian Eriksen will not be allowed to play football in Italy again following his cardiac arrest

   


The Italian Football Association has confirmed that Christian Eriksen will not be allowed to play for Inter Milan again unless the defibrillator installed after his cardiac arrest while on Denmark duty is removed. 

   The 29-year-old collapsed during his country's Euro 2020 opener against Finland on June 12 and required urgent CPR treatment from pitch-side medics. Eriksen was brought back to life on the pitch but the remainder of his football career remains in doubt.  

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State

   Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, on Tuesday, pardoned 136 inmates as part of measures to decongest the correctional centres in the state.

   The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Abba Anwar, disclosed this in a statement he issued in Kano. Anwar stated that the governor took the decision when he visited Goron-dutse Medium Correctional Centre on Tuesday.


Local Government Election: Lagos Government State Restricts Movement

 


 The Lagos State Government has announced the restriction of movement in the state as it goes to the polls for the local government elections billed for this weekend. 

   Information and Strategy Commissioner, Gbenga Omotosho in a statement on Thursday evening, said the movement will be restricted in the country’s commercial centre on Saturday, July 24th between 08:00 am and 03:00 pm.

Nigeria Receives First Batch Of A-29 Super Tucano Aircraft

   



    Nigeria has received the first batch of  A-29 Super Tucano aircraft procured from the United States of America. The aircraft arrived in Kano State on Thursday afternoon, the Nigerian Air Force said.

   “On hand to receive the aircraft were the Honourable Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (Rtd), Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao,” a statement signed by NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, noted. Gabkwet said the second batch of the A-29 Super Tucano is expected to arrive in the country before the end of the year.
