Man City make £100m bid for Jack Grealish

   


     Manchester City football club has tabled a £100 million ($140m) bid for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, according to a report by The Telegraph.

  The Citizens have been linked with the England international for some time, and have now made the bold transfer move ahead of a Premier League title defense in 2021-22.

Court stops APC congresses in Imo

 




   The All Progressives Congress (APC) Saturday’s congresses in Imo State have been stopped by an Abuja federal high court. 

  Justice Valentine Oriji in his ruling on the suit filed by Okey Anyikwa who is APC chairman in Ideato South Local Government Area, threatened to invalidate the outcome of congresses if the party disregards the position of the Court.

Trent Alexander-Arnold signs four year deal with Liverpool

 


    Trent Alexander-Arnold has become one of Liverpool’s highest earners after signing a lucrative new four-year contract with the Merseyside club.

  The club began negotiations this week with Jurgen Klopp keen to recognise the 22-year-old right-back’s immense importance to his side. The academy graduate, who has been with his boyhood club since the age of six, has made 179 appearances since making his debut nearly five years ago.

Nigeria To Roll Out 5G Technology Soon – NCC

   


    The Federal Government is set to begin the roll-out of fifth-generation (5G) services across the country. Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, made the announcement on Friday at a public inquiry on the instruments necessary for the deployment of the technology.

Nigeria Records Highest Daily COVID-19 Cases In Almost Five Months

   


    Nigeria’s coronavirus cases maintained a steady since the start of the week with 558 new infections confirmed on Thursday. The figure was reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its latest update on the outbreak of the disease in the country.

    Former Minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has defended DCP Abba Kyari, who was indicted in the Hushpuppi fraud case by the U.S government.

   According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Central District of California, Abba Kyari, a was one of six people indicted over an elaborate scheme to defraud a Qatari businessperson of more than $1 million, masterminded by Hushpuppi. While defending Kyari on social media, FFK said Kyari is a super cop that has risked his life protecting Nigerians from murderers and terrorist. He also stated that he won’t condemn him, unless he sees any evidence to the contrary. Sharing photos of the DCP, FFK wrote;

EFCC arrests 55 Internet fraudsters in Enugu

   


   Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have arrested 55 suspected internet fraudsters in separate operations in Enugu and Ebonyi States.

   A statement released by the antigraft agency says eighteen of the suspects were arrested on July 29, 2021, at Agbani Road and Thinkers Corner areas of Enugu, Enugu State following intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet fraud.

Unknown gunmen kidnap night club operator in Bayelsa

     


   Unknown gunmen have abducted the proprietor of a popular nightclub in Yenagoa, Bayelsa capital, Mr Tari Ajanami.

   The News Agency of Nigeria ((NAN) learnt that Ajanami, who also works as a cash officer with a commercial bank, was at his building site to pay workers when the gunmen swooped on him and whisked him away.

DSS: we have only three Igboho’s associates with us not 12

   


The Department of State Services (DSS) has told a court that only three associates of Yoruba nation advocate Sunday Igboho are in its custody. This is contrary to 12 people named in a suit before a Federal High Court in Abuja by some lawyers including Pelumi Olajengbesi and Allen Sowore, after the raid of Igboho’s Ibadan (Oyo State) residence on July 1.

CBN to refund N35m capital deposits to BDC applicants

 


   The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Thursday says it will start immediate refund of capital deposit to Bureaux de Change (BDC) promoters with pending applications.

  According to a circular signed by Ibrahim Tukur for the Director, Financial Policy and Regulation Department of the apex bank, this is in furtherance of the decision to discontinue allocation of Foreign Exchange (FX) to BDC operators. Tukur urged eligible promoters of BDCs to forward their application for refund in writing to the Director, Financial Policy and Regulation Department of the CBN.
