   A lady has gone down memory lane to the time she first met the man she now calls the love of her life. Taking to Twitter, the woman known as Shirley revealed that they met four years ago at a wedding. She had apparently been standing at the occasion and her legs began to hurt, so he allowed her to sit on his lap, thereby easing her pain. According to her, that singular act was what endeared her to him, and they have been together eve since. She wrote:

Resident Doctors To Begin Nationwide Strike On Monday

 


    The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has directed its members across the country to embark on a total strike from Monday, August 2. This directive was issued on Saturday at the end of the executive meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the union held in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

    Briefing reporters at the end of the meeting, NARD National President, Dr Okhuaihesuyi Uyilawa, disclosed that members have been asked to proceed on a nationwide indefinite industrial action. “We are embarking on a total and indefinite strike on August 2, 2021. You can recall we had a memorandum of action on March 31, 2021, and had an addendum to it on April 9, and since then, we still have had irregularities in the payment of salaries to the house officers. “We had issues with them being non-regular payment and as part of the memorandum of action, it was said that they should be captured back into the IPPS platform,” he said.

South African filmmaker, Shona Ferguson, dies at 47

   


     Popular South African actor and filmmaker, Shona Ferguson, has died.  The 47-year-old Rockville actor and husband to producer and actress, Connie Ferguson, died at Milpark Hospital on Friday, July 30, due to Covid-19 related complications. A statement from his family reads:

Two men bag six months imprisonment for giving false info to EFCC operatives

     


   The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on July 30, 2021 secured the conviction of the duo of Tijjani Haruna and Abdullahi Ahmed to six months imprisonment before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri on separate one-count amended charge of giving false information to operatives of the Commission. The offence is contrary to and punishable under Sections 139 and 139 (a) of the Penal Code Laws of Borno State.

One of the charge reads:

We Are Not Aware Of $875m Ammunition Deal With US – Lai Mohammed

 


  The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed says the Federal Government is not aware of any $875 million ammunition deal with the US which is being purportedly obstructed by some lawmakers in the States. Mr. Mohammed stated this while speaking with newsmen on Friday in Abuja. According to him, there is no contract of such nature and sum between Nigeria and the US.
