Police Commission Suspends Abba Kyari

 


    The Police Service Commission has suspended a Deputy Commissioner of Police and Head, Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force, Abba Kyari, from office.

Governor Okowa mourns veteran Nollywood actress, Rachael Oniga

   


     Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has commiserated with the Oniga family, Urhobo nation and Nollywood over the passing of veteran actress, Rachael Oniga. . 

   The renowned movie star, who hails from Eku in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta, reportedly died on Friday in Lagos. She was 64.

    In a statement in Asana on Saturday by Mr Olisa Ifeajika, his Chief Press Secretary, Okowa expressed bewilderment at the passing of Oniga, saying she was a consummate actress whose demise was a huge loss to Delta and Nigeria.

   Police Service Commission, says said it could dismiss Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, if found guilty in the $1.1million Hushpuppi internet fraud case. The popular police officer Kyari has been accused of receiving bribe from alleged internet fraudster Ramon Abbas a.k.a Hushpuppi.

   Accordibg to reports by FBI, Kyari received bribe to arrest and jail a member of his online fraud gang identified as Chibuzo Vincent following a dispute that arose from a $1.1m fraudulent operation. Kyari was also accused of allegedly sending Abbas bank account details to deposit payment for Vincent’s arrest and imprisonment but has since denied the allegation.

  The Inspector-General of Police has ordered an internal review of the allegations against Kyari who has been identified as the most decorated police officer. In an interview with Punch, Head of media for the Police Commission, Austin Braimoh, said the PSC would not be bound by the IG’s review of the allegations against Kyari.

     The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Saturday questioned former Senate President Bukola Saraki over alleged misappropriation of public funds and money laundering. According to sources who confirmed the news to Channels Television, Saraki arrived the EFCC office around 2pm.

   According to sources, Mr Saraki is alleged to have hired suspected proxies, who executed contracts for Kwara State under his administration and allegedly made returns to him for many years. The funds involved are said to run into hundreds of millions in naira and hundreds of thousands in foreign currencies.  Saraki, 58, was Senate President between 2015 and 2019.
