Anambra state government confirm two suspected cases of monkeypox

     



   Anambra state government has confirmed that two suspected cases of monkeypox were recorded in some local governments in the South-East state.  Commissioner for Health Dr. Afam Obidike, who disclosed that some of the affected local governments are Anambra East, Onitsha and Oyi, further revealed that one of the cases has been confirmed positive.

   

   He added that the state emergency preparedness and response team placed relevant surveillance measures to curtail the spread of the disease. Obidike said;

NCDC confirms 1 death, 21 cases in Nigeria

 


    Nigeria Centre for Disease Control,NCDC,has reported 21 confirmed cases of Monkeypox with one death from nine states and the Federal Capital Territory,FCT. This came as it activated Monkeypox Emergency Operations Centre to strengthen in-country preparedness and contribute to the global response.

Enough supplies are available- Monkeypox vaccine producer


    Sufficient supplies of the Imvanex vaccine against monkeypox are available to handle the current outbreak, the producer of the shot told dpa on Wednesday. Bavarian Nordic is the only company in the world whose monkeypox vaccine has regulatory approval. It is currently possible to produce 30 million doses annually, spokesman Rolf Sass Sørensen said.


   Cases of monkeypox are spreading. The virus usually causes mild symptoms such as rash, fever and pustules, but can also be severe.

UK records 37 more monkeypox cases

   


   UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA)  have now logged 57 cases less than a month since the first case. According to Mail Online, authorities described the outbreak,  which has disproportionately struck gay and bisexual men as 'significant and concerning' but insisted the risk to the UK population remains low.

US confirms 1st case of Monkeypox in a man

 


 

   Health officials in Massachusetts have detected a monkeypox infection in a man, making it the first case of the rare virus detected in the United States this year.

   According to a release from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the patient is an adult male who recently traveled to Canada. The department completed initial testing Tuesday and was confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Delta Govt Confirms Outbreak Of Bird Flu

 


   Delta State Government has confirmed a fresh outbreak of the Avian Influenza, also known as bird flu with over 160,000 birds affected in various farms across seven local government areas of the state.

   The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Julius Egbedi and his information counterpart Charles Aniagwu disclosed this during a press conference in Asaba on Wednesday. According to Egbedi, the affected farms are located in Udu, Oshimili South, Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Okpe and Sapele local government areas, with samples from the reported farms sent to the National Veterinary Institute, Jos, and all were confirmed to be the h5n1 strain of avian influenza.

Pangolin identified as potential link for Coronavirus spread across china



   The endangered pangolin may be the link that facilitated the spread of the novel coronavirus across China, Chinese scientists said Friday.

  Researchers have long suspected that the virus, which has now killed more than 630 people and infected some 31,000, was passed from an animal to a human at a market in the central Chinese city of Wuhan late last year.
