    The governor of Rivers State has sacked the 23 local government chairman, the chief judge. The speaker and deputy speaker have been impeached. Recall that there was a fire outbreak in the chambers of the state.

Nigerian leaders at all levels of government to lead by example in sacrificing for a better Nigeria- Peter Obi

 


 The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has advised Nigerian leaders at all levels of government to lead by example in sacrificing for a better Nigeria.


He was commenting on a viral video allegedly showing President Bola Tinubu with about 120-car convoy in Lagos on his return from London on Tuesday. Obi, who said a group of journalists ambushed him to comment on the video which he said he has not personally seen in an event in Anambra State on Thursday, maintained that the size and length of an official motorcade cannot measure the quality of leadership.

Police Service Commission approve appointment and deployment of eight Commissioners of Police


   The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment and deployment of eight Commissioners of Police to State Commands in the country.


In a statement by its spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission also commended the acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun for adhering to its latest policy on gender sensitivity in his recommendation.


The Commission however expects that the Inspector General in his subsequent proposals will include more Officers from the North-East and South-East geopolitical zones that have yet to record the benchmark of 15 percent as decided at its last plenary meeting.


The newly appointed state commissioners of police include Godwin Aghaulor, now CP Borno State Command; Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, CP Oyo State Command; and Samuel Titus Musa, CP Kebbi State Command. Also appointed were Aderemi Olufemi Adeoye, CP Anambra State Command; Stephen Olarewaju, CP Imo State Command; and Alamatu Abiodun Mustapha, CP Ogun State Command.

President Bola Tinubu join world leaders for the closing ceremony of the New Global Financing Pact summit in France

 



  President Bola Tinubu on Friday joined other world leaders for the closing ceremony of the New Global Financing Pact summit in France.


The President had departed Nigeria for Paris on Tuesday for the summit. He used the opportunity of the event to review and sign a New Global Financial Pact that places vulnerable countries on a priority list for support and investment, following the devastating impact of climate change, the energy crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Raymond Dokpesi Laid To Rest In Edo

   



   The late media entrepreneur, Raymond Dokpesi, has been laid to rest in his hometown of Agenebode in the Etsako East Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State.


Loved ones, friends and well-wishers converged on the town for a week of activities that culminated in a funeral Friday to celebrate the life of the renowned shipping magnate, politician, and chairman of DAAR Communications.


The town and its people, along with several travelling from all around the country, came by amid the burial rites, which included the service of songs held at his former residence.

  The Presidential Election Petitions Court has admitted certified copies of the academic and work records of President Bola Tinubu tendered by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Fubara warns police against restoring SARS in Rivers

  Governor Siminalayi Fubara has warned the police against restoring the disbanded Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) in Rivers State.


Some media users have been alleging profiling and indiscriminate arrests after sightings of police officers operating like SARS in Port Harcourt and other areas.


Fubara raised the issue on Friday at the Government House during a meeting with the new Commissioner of Police, Nwoyi Polycarp Emeka.

Anyone who read the Press Release signed by officials of the Otti administration yesterday wherein they indiscriminately bandied financial records will think that Abia State was created in 2015 and that Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu is the first Governor ever to preside over the affairs of the State.


The impression created by that release is that Ikpeazu left debts of over 191 Billion Naira!


That is not correct.


The figures they threw around yesterday represents the total debt stock of Abia State, some of which were inherited by the State when it was created in 1991.

Declare State Of Emergency Over Passport Delays

 The acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, has announced a state of emergency on passport issues in the country.


According to a statement on Thursday by the NIS spokesperson, Tony Akuneme, the immigration boss made the declaration during her working visit to Lagos.


She emphasised the urgent need to address the challenges faced by Nigerians in obtaining passports and declared a comprehensive plan of action to tackle these issues effectively.


“The acting CGI’s visit to Lagos encompassed significant events that underscored the gravity of the Passport crisis,” the statement read in part.

AIT and Ray Power FM radio Owner Raymond Dokpesi to be buried June 22

 


 The remains of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, the Founder of DAAR Communications, would be buried on 22nd June, 2023 at his residence in Agenebode, Edo State.


This was disclosed by the Dokpesi family of Agenebode, according to the burial arrangements released by the Dokpesi family of Agenebode. Dokpesi, the owner of AIT and Ray Power FM radio, died on May 29, 2023.


The family released that the funeral activities will commence on 19th June, 2023 with a day of tributes, to take place at the prestigious International Conference Centre in Abuja at 4:00 pm. In the statement, dignitaries, friends, and well-wishers are invited to pay their respects and honour the memory of the late DAAR Communication founder, Raymond Dokpesi. On the following day, the 20th June, a requiem mass will be held at the Church of the Assumption in Abuja at 12 noon.


The religious service will be a solemn occasion to celebrate the life and legacy of the esteemed entrepreneur. After the requiem mass, a reception will be held at the DAAR Villa, located at 1 Ladi Lawal Drive, Asokoro, Abuja, providing an opportunity for attendees to offer condolences and support to the Dokpesi family.

The Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria, AMEN, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has narrated how his erstwhile cook tried to poison him.


   Mbaka claimed God revealed the incident to him through a vision. He said this in a video posted on the ministry’s Facebook page. The video was recorded while the cleric was ministering in one of his church programmes. The fiery cleric said God reveals the future through vision, and people will see it.


   He said, ”There was a time I had one cook; I was waiting on the Lord in the temple. I was with the Blessed Sacrament from the night till morning. I wanted to go out, but the Holy Spirit told me it was not yet time.
