Labour Party unveils Baba-Ahmed as Obi’s running mate

   


    Baba-Ahmed, who is in his 40s, is the Proprietor of Baze University, Abuja and Baba-Ahmed University Kano. The unveiling of the vice-presidential candidate was initially slated for Thursday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

INEC extends PVC registration, issues warning

   



   The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has told political parties in the country that it would not extend the July 15, 2022 deadline for nomination of governorship and state assembly candidates.


Festus Okoye, National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education Committee, made this known in a statement on Thursday. Okoye also stated that Continuous Voter Registration (VR) will continue nationwide.


According to him, the Resident Electoral Commissioners and Electoral Officers have been directed to continue with the exercise pending further directives from the Commission.


”The Commission has consistently reiterated its resolve to continue to provide electoral services to the Nigerian people and register all eligible Nigerians that are interested in registering. The Commission has yet again deployed additional machines to areas of pressure and will continue to serve the people of Nigeria.

Why we must extend deadline for its Continuous Voter Registration exercise- INEC

   



   Independent National Electoral Commission will extend the deadline for its Continuous Voter Registration exercise, national commissioner Festus Okoye said on Friday.

  Civil society organisations have called for the deadline of June 30 to be extended to enable more Nigerians register to vote in the 2023 general elections.

Sanusi Denies Endorsing Peter Obi

 



   Muhammad Sanusi ll, has denied a viral statement attributed to him on social media endorsing the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.


The statement posted several times across different social media platforms had chided the presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.


But in a statement on Monday, the chief of staff to the deposed emir, Munir Sunusi Bayero, said the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor did not author the article.


The statement said, “Our attention has been drawn to an article circulating the online media space analysing the motives of the three presidential candidates in the 2023 elections.

We Will Give Effect To Court Order On Voter Registration – INEC

 


 The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will give effect to the ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja on the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

Tinubu Submits Masari’s Name As Running Mate

   


    As part of the plan to beat the Friday June 17 deadline given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to political parties to submit the names of presidential candidates and their running mates, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu has submitted the name of Kabir Ibrahim Masari.

   The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has denied he will leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Wike, in a statement signed by his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, was reacting to a viral video which claimed the governor was threatening to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement released on Wednesday night, Ebiri insisted the video was intended to mislead members of the public.

APC picks Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as preferred running mate

 



    All Progressives Congress, (APC) has picked the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as the preferred running mate for the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.


This revelation was contained in a press statement issued by the Director-General of Ganduje’s Support Group, Suleiman Magaji, and made available to newsmen in Abuja.


The statement revealed that the APC National Working Committee narrowed down the choice of Tinubu’s running mate to the incumbent Kano State Governor on the basis of loyalty, commitment and infrastructural development of his state.
