Trump and Obama have enjoyed a smiling chat as they prepare for the outgoing President to leave by helicopter from the back of the Capitol.
As they stood on the steps, Obama took his wife Michelle’s hand and kissed it. This is the emotional end of eight years for the Obamas - who have made the White House the family home for their teenage girls.
After a few minutes of formalities, the President pats his successor on the shoulder and gives Melania Trump a kiss before boarding Marine One - well, as it’s called when the current President is aboard.
As he boards, and the rain begins to fall, he gives a final wave:
