Venezuela's Supreme Court 14-year jail sentence opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez, a day after U.S president, Donald Trump called for his release

Venezuela's Supreme Court has upheld the 14-year jail sentence of opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez, a day after U.S president, Donald Trump called for his release.

Lopez was found guilty of inciting violence during protests in 2014 in which 43 people from both sides of the political divide were killed.

He has repeatedly said that his sentence was politically motivated.

LilianTintori, wife of Lopez, however said that Trump is with the people of Venezuela.
