John Hagee's Daily Devotional 17 January 2018- Dream Big

 Romans 4:17-20 …God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;

And not being weak in faith…He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.

All great things begin with a dream. What is a dream according to scripture?  It is calling those things which do not exist as though they did and then acting in faith that God will make it a reality.   We can look at the theater of history to see two men, who lived thousands of years apart, dream dreams which not only came true, but changed the world, against all odds, through the power of God. 

  One was a Jewish boy who was sold into slavery by his brothers and taken into a foreign land where he was wrongfully accused and imprisoned for many years.  Seemingly forgotten, he could have given up, but his faith was strong and he clung to the dream God had given him—he would one day be elevated to a position of respect and responsibility. Justice and freedom would be his reward.

   The other dreamer was a man who represented the descendants of a people who were taken from their homeland and sold into slavery across the sea. They, like the Jewish boy, endured terrible hardships in a strange land and though they were eventually given legal emancipation, they continued to experience the wicked fruit of prejudice.  Therefore, the dreamer took it upon himself to stand on the Word of God that declares that all men are created equal Acts 10:34, and publicly demand “riches of freedom and security of justice” on their behalf.

  These two men were Joseph son of Jacob, and Martin Luther King Jr.  The first saved his people from famine thus preserving his family lineage which would bring forth our Messiah, Jesus. The second launched the movement which established real civil rights for a beleaguered people.  Both men greatly impacted the world because they had the courage to dream and believe God.

   Do you have a dream?  Dream what seems impossible, for no dream is too big for the Creator of the Universe.  Whatever God has put in your heart to pursue, stand on the Word of God, in faith believing and go for it, and watch the King of Glory bring it to pass, in Jesus’ mighty name.
