John Hagee's Daily Devotional 23 January 2018- Exodus 1:17

Exodus 1:17—But the midwives feared God and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.
Our Absolute Obedience Must Be To The Word Of God—Not To A Denomination…Not To A Man…Not To The President…Not To A Government!
The word of God is powerful.  The word of God is true.  If we are to use the sword of the Spirit effectively, we must obey the word.  We respect our government and pray for our leaders; but our first allegiance is to the word of God.

Let me pose a question:  Is it ever wrong to obey the government?  The answer is yes.  When the government condones what God condemns, your commitment is to abide by the word of God.

In the Old Testament, Pharaoh had an extermination policy of Jewish male children.  The midwives of Egypt were commanded to kill the children upon birth.  The midwives feared God, so they disobeyed Pharaoh and the Bible says God blessed them for it.  They defied their government and God blessed them for it.  Moses’ parents defied the government of Egypt.  When their son was born, they hid him.

Corrie Ten Boom, a Dutch woman who lived in Holland during the Second World War, hid Jews in her home so that Hitler’s Nazis could not find them.  She went to prison for disobeying the government.  She went through the hell of a German concentration camp because of her obedience to God’s word.  But God blessed her for it.  I guarantee you that when you get to heaven, you’ll have to walk a day and a half to get around the mansion God has prepared for her.  The point is, when the government approves what God condemns, we stand with the word of God.
