DCLM Daily Manna 19 June, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – Feed On God’s Word

Topic: Feed On God’s Word [DCLM Daily Manna Tuesday June 19, 2018]

Text: Psalm 119:9-16 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word” (Psalm 119:9).

MESSAGE:

The greatest weakness of many people is that they have no clue as to how to keep themselves from doing what is wrong. Worse still, because of the widespread permissiveness in our modern world, many no longer know where to draw a line between what is right and what is wrong. As a result, they stumble through life, experiencing one disaster after another.

The writer of this psalm seems to be understandably worried about how the world is engulfed in diverse kinds of evil and perversions. How possible is it then for anyone, especially vibrant and inexperienced young people, to keep away from doing what is wrong? How can one withstand the pressure of selfish desires and societal demands? The answer, according to the psalmist, is to take heed to God’s word, seek Him with the whole heart and not stray from Him. We must hide His word in our hearts, allow Him to teach us daily as we read the Word, learn to declare it to those who do not know God and meditate daily on it.

Strength to resist sinful conduct comes when we daily feed on God’s word and do what it says. We should allow the Word to be our guide and wisdom in all the decisions and actions we take. More than that, we should allow it to restrict our inner cravings and public conduct. The word of God has greater influence than the temptations around us. It also has the power to make us fulfil the destiny God has for us. Wisdom demands then that we fill our mind and spirit with the word of God. Following a well-structured reading schedule will help us keep it up.

Thought For The Day: The best direction to eternal bliss is in the Word!
