Engaging the Supernatural Power of Love! By David Oyedepo

Topic: Engaging the supernatural power of love!
Welcome to another impactful week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. Today, we shall focus on Engaging the Supernatural Power of Love!

From scriptures, we understand that every child of God is redeemed to command the supernatural. As it is written: The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit (John 3:8). Interestingly, we live in a Kingdom that operates on keys; and as such, we need an understanding of the keys to the supernatural world to operate sweatlessly (Matthew 16:19). First, let us understand that the supernatural is not ‘abracadabra’, it is engaging with the Word that culminates in the supernatural. In other words, there is nothing mystical about the supernatural, it is simply the Word we receive, believe and obey that triggers the supernatural thereby birthing signs and wonders in our lives.

We also discover from scriptures that everything that works in the Kingdom works by love. It is by faith we live the overcomer’s life but faith works by love (Galatians 5:6). This is why our love for souls and the pursuit of same for their salvation is the strongest proof of our love for God. The Bible says: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16; see also John 21:15-17). If we so love God, we will pay any price like investing our time, energy and resources to reach out to the lost. For instance, Paul was an addicted lover of Jesus and he was able to command the supernatural (1 Corinthians 9:16/22; Acts 26:22). Like Paul, when we are rooted and grounded in our love for God, we become grand commanders of the supernatural because we are now filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:17-19; 1 John 4:17). However, one way to genuinely prove our love for God is through soul winning which is God’s number one interest on the earth and pursuing same with passion will make a star of any believer (Matthew 16:26).

But love is a choice and not a gift; however, our choice must be powered by the Spirit so as to stand the test of time. Peter answered three times ‘I love you’ but in Matthew 26:69-75, he denied Jesus. His choice could not stand the test of time but after his baptism in the Holy Ghost, not even the authorities of the land could stand him because His love became solidified (Acts 4:19).

What then are the Characteristics of love?

It is a Failure Proof Virtue: Love never faileth. As it is written: Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away (1 Corinthians 13:8). Every genuine lover of God lives above failure.

It Makes a Believer Indestructible: This is because we are filled with the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:17-19). For instance, we saw how the young men called Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego dared death because of their love for God; and as such the indestructible power of love made the fiery furnace of no effect in their lives. (Daniel 3:16-29; 1 John 4:16). Also, Daniel’s love for God made him indestructible (Daniel 6:22). And everyone that connived to put Daniel in the den was thrown inside (Daniel 6:24).

It Provokes Supernatural Breakthroughs: The Bible says: But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (1 Corinthians 2:9). Supernatural breakthroughs always accompany every true lover of Jesus and love is the fulfilling of the law (Romans 13:10).

Love also Empowers our Dedication to Christ: We saw the love of God at work in Paul; how nothing could separate him from that love (Romans 8:35). The more dedicated we are to God, the more distinguished we become on the earth because every truly dedicated child of God ends up distinguished in life. Dedicated stewardship will always guarantee honour from above.

In conclusion, unwavering lovers of God are commanders of the supernatural (Job 13:15, 14:7-9/14, 42:10-12). Love is what makes us an eternal winner because the rewards of soul winning do not end here on earth, they continue to heaven. Every true soul winner will end up with a crown of righteousness in heaven (2 Timothy 4:8).

However being a bonafide child of God is the first step to operate in this love. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!” For further reading, please get my books: Walking in the Miraculous, Operating in the Supernatural, Releasing the Supernatural, Commanding the Supernatural and All you need to have all your needs met.
