Topic: Gateway through Prayer [DCLM Daily Manna 17 January 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]
Text: Acts 10:9-26 (KJV)
Key Verse: “On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour.” (Acts 10:9).
MESSAGE:
When God is about to call a person to the discharge of a special duty, He often, in a special manner prepares him. Paul was converted on the way to Damascus when he was blinded by divine glory that shone from above. When Ananias was called to find him, he was told: “…behold, he prayeth” (Acts 9:10,11). How badly he needed that to be able to fulfil the ministry he was about to receive from the Lord.
In our text, the Lord was about to open a great door for the Gentiles to come into the Kingdom through the hearing of the gospel. Having decided to use Apostle Peter, the Spirit nudged him to retreat to a secluded roof top to pray. Peter obeyed, not knowing that some gentle enquirers were coming their way. It was necessary for him to pray in this manner as directed by the Spirit so that his witness and preaching might be under the fresh influence and anointing of the Holy Spirit.
