COVID-19: Worried German minister commits suicide

 

   Thomas Schaefer, the finance minister of Germany’s Hesse state, committed suicide apparently after becoming “deeply worried” over how to cope with the economic fallout from the coronavirus.

   State premier Volker Bouffier stated via a recorded statement on Sunday (March 29). Mr. Schaefer, 54, was found dead near a railway track on Saturday. The Wiesbaden prosecution’s office said they believe he died by suicide.

President Buhari declares curfew in Lagos, Abuja, Ogun

    The president made this declaration during a nationwide broadcast on Sunday evening. He said “Based on the advice of the Federal Ministry of Health and the NCDC, I am directing the cessation of all movements in Lagos and the FCT for an initial period of 14 days with effect from 11pm on Monday, 30th March 2020.

   The provost and deputy provost of the University of Ibadan, UI, College of Medicine, Professors Ezekiel Olapade-Olaopa and Obafunke Denloye, have tested positive to Coronavirus.
