(FOREIGN) 17 Killed In Uganda After Heavy Rainfall

 
  At least 17 people - mostly children - have died after heavy rains in eastern Uganda caused flooding. The rains hit the districts of Kamuli and Buyende during the night, with some people drowning in the flood waters and others hit by collapsing walls, the region's police spokesperson Michael Kasadha said.

(FOREIGN) World’s First Malaria Vaccine Pilot Launched In Malawi



   The world’s first malaria vaccine, RTS,S  pilot programme was launched in Malawi on Tuesday. This makes Malawi the first of three countries in Africa in which the RTS,S vaccine will be made available to children up to two years of age.

  RTS,S is a scientific name given to the malaria vaccine and represents its composition; the ‘R’ stands for the central repeat region of Plasmodium (P.) falciparum‘circumsporozoite protein (CSP); ‘T’ for the T-cell epitopes of the CSP;and the‘S’ for hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg).

(LOCAL) Most Financial Institutions Open Account For Criminals- ICPC

 

    Prof Bolaji Owasanoye, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has exposed the role of some financial institutions in financial crimes. The spokesperson for the commission, Rasheedat Okoduwa made this known in a press statement where she said the ICPC would ensure continuous clampdown on corrupt elements in the industry.
