French defence minister Goulard steps down amid jobs probe

 

   French Defence Minister Sylvie Goulard is stepping down amid an investigation into employment contracts at the political party she belongs to, French newspaper Le Monde and other media reported on Tuesday. Le Monde quoted a statement from Goulard saying that she wished “to be able to freely demonstrate my good faith” if anti-corruption police wanted to verify the employment conditions of the staff she employed as a member of the European Parliament (MEP).

Nigeria spends N23bn on import of gas turbines

 

     Nigeria imported gas turbines for electricity generation valued at N22.607 billion in the first quarter of 2017, according to data obtained from the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS.

Photo: Police officer, two siblings killed by armed robbers while taking their Uncle's remains for burial in Edo

   

   According to twitter user, @iam_AbdulAxis, the young police officer pictured left, was killed with two of his siblings by some armed robbers along Benin road in Edo state yesterday. The mobile police officer and his two siblings were taking their Uncle's remains for burial when they met the robbers and were killed during the gun battle.
