EFCC Nab NABDA DG over alleged N23m scam

 
   The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has arrested Prof. Lucy  Ogbadu, the Director-General of National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), over alleged N23 million fraud. Spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, disclosed this in a statement he issued on Thursday.

Int’l Windows’ Day: Ambode’s wife empowers 103 widows

 
    To celebrate the 2017 International Widows’ Day, wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode on Thursday empowered at least 103 widows across age category with financial assistance, equipment support and skills training programme, during an event organized by her foundation, Hope for Women in Nigeria Initiative, HOFOWEM, at Oregun, Ikeja. Empowerment materials distributed to the women included deep freezers, industrial gas cookers, photocopiers, grinding machines, embroidery machines, professional cameras, refrigerators, whipping machines and ovens, bag sewing machines, grinding machines, among others.

    The widows of four of nine men executed by Nigeria’s military regime in 1995 have filed a civil lawsuit seeking compensation and an apology from Royal Dutch Shell. The widows are Esther Kiobel, Victoria Bera, Blessing Eawo and Charity Levula.

   University of Lagos, UNILAG said it has invented a new method of diagnosing malaria, following intensive research by its Department of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology. Prof. Wellington Oyibo, the Director, Research and Innovation of the institution, made this known on Thursday in Lagos.
