(LOCAL) House Of Representatives Pass 2019 Budget Of N8.916tn



   House of Representatives today passed a total of N8,916, 964, 098, 373 trillon as 2019 budget. President Muhammadu Buhari had in December 2018 presented a budget estimate of N8.83 trillion before a joint session of the Senate and the House for the 2019 fiscal year.

(LOCAL) Drug Peddling: President Buhari Directs AGF To Intervene In Zainab’s Case



   President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to immediately intervene in the case of Zainab Aliyu incriminated in drug related matters and being detained by the Saudi Arabia authorities. Aliyu, a student of Maitama Sule University, Kano, was arrested by Saudi authorities on December 26, 2018 for allegedly travelling with a luggage containing unlawful substance believed to be tramadol.

(LOCAL) “We Don’t Take Orders From President Buhari”– Supreme Court

 

  The Supreme Court has made it clear that it does not take orders from President Muhammadu Buhari, as it remained an independent arm of government. The apex court made this known in a statement signed by the Director, Information and Press, Dr. Festus Akande who also denied reports that six of its directors were behind the exit of former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen. The statement reads:

(LOCAL) June 11 Fix For Trial Of Dasuki, Others In N19.4b Arms Deal

 

   The FCT High Court sitting in the Maitama area of Abuja has fixed June 11.  2019 for the trial to begin for a former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, (Rtd) and Bashir Yuguda, in the alleged misappropriation of 19.4 billion naira arms funds.

(LOCAL) Governor Dickson Declines Assent To Bill Seeking Life Pension For Bayelsa Lawmakers

 

   The Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has declined assent to the bill seeking lifetime pension for lawmakers in the state as proposed and passed by the Assembly.

    Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the State Commissioner for Information, in a statement said the governor conveyed the decision to decline assent to the bill in a letter to the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly on Monday. The Governor held consultations with the Assembly members in his country home of Toru-Orua, where he explained his reason for declining assent.
