Defend yourselves, Ohanaeze President tells Igbo over ultimatum

 
 
  Nnia Nwodo, president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has called on his people to be ready to defend themselves against “northern war mongers”.

   Reacting to the 30-day ultimatum the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNGs) gave to governors opposed to the Ruga settlement programme to reconsider their decision, Nwodo said threats will no longer be tolerated.He described the action of the coalition as “irresponsible and treasonable”, insisting that the Ruga initiative violates the constitution.

Oyetola wins at Supreme Court

 

    The Supreme Court gave a finality to the dispute this morning in Abuja, ruling 5-2 in favour of  Oyetola and against Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Senator Abbo granted bail

 

  The federal capital territory police command has granted bail to Elisha Abbo, senator representing Adamawa north. According to Premium Times, Bala Ciroma, the state police commissioner, said Abbo was allowed to go home around noon on Friday after meeting “a set of administrative conditions for his bail.”

PDP NWC Suspends Elumelu, Six Others

 

  The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Hon. Ndudi Elumelu and six others.

   The six others are Hon. Wole Oke, Hon. Lynda Ikpeazu, Hon. Anayo Edwin, Hon. Gideon Gwadi, Hon. Toby Okechukwu and Hon. Adekoya Abdul-Majid. They had been summoned on Thursday by the NWC over the role they were alleged to have played in the minority leadership tussle at the House of Representatives on Wednesday. According to the NWC, their action was an act of insubordination, hence they are to proceed a month-long suspension.
