Wike Congratulates Buhari

 

   Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers on Wednesday became the first governor of a PDP state to congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari on the validation of his re-election by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. Wike’s congratulatory message was conveyed in a statement by Mr Simeon Nwakaudu, his Special Assistant on Electronic Media.

   Kogi State Governor, Mr Yahaya Bello, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT)

The Tribunal, Wednesday, upheld Buhari’s re-election, striking out all petitions brought against him by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

FEC Approves Increase In VAT Rate To 7.2%



  The federal executive council (FEC) has approved an increase in value added tax (VAT) rate from 5 percent to 7.2% percent Zainab Ahmed, minister of finance, budget and national planning, disclosed this to state house correspondents at the end of the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

   However, this is subject to an amendment of the VAT act of 1994 by the national assembly. If approved by the federal lawmakers, the new rate will take effect in 2020. VAT replaced the sales tax in 1994 and was pegged at 5% by the military government of Sani Abacha.
