Katsina State Government trace 20 of its indigenes sold in Burkina Faso



  Katsina State Government may have traced 20 of its indigenes to Burkina Faso, where they were allegedly sold into slavery by armed bandits who abducted them .

    Reports indicated that “modern day slavery” thrives in Burkina Faso, a former French colony located in the Sahel region of West Africa, with human merchandise exchanging hands through various middlemen in parts of northern Nigeria, Benin Republic,  Republic of Niger and Chad.

   Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Sunday, declared that Nigeria’s freedom was at the door. He said this in his message to citizens at the 59th Independence Day Church Service at the National Christian Centre. in Abuja.

    Osinabjo said: “God had promised, through the mouths of His trusted prophets, that He is giving us a New Nigeria! May I announce to you today that God is ready to take us into the Promised Land, the new Nigeria.

I am determined to improve standard of living ―Gov Makinde



   Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has given reasons his administration was focused on addressing welfare issues, stating that he intended to turn around the standard of living in the state.

    Makinde, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Olubamiwo Adeosun, at a special service to mark Nigeria’s 59th Independence anniversary, held at the St. Peter’s Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan, stated that his government had so far emphasised the welfare of the people in order to create a good life for all. This is according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Taiwo Adisa.

DSS releases Chido Onumah from custody

 
  The Department of State Services (DSS) has released Chido Onumah, coordinator of African Centre for Media & Information Literacy (AFRICMIL). He was released on Sunday night, hours after he was taken into custody.
