1000 coronavirus cases in Spain in just 24 hours

 

 
  Spain has registered nearly 1,000 new coronavirus infections over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of cases to 8,744, the country's health ministry revealed today.

Sanwo-Olu announces N2bn relief fund for victims of Abule Ado explosion


    Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday announced the setting up of N2 billion relief fund for victims of Sunday’s explosion at Abule Ado area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Massive explosion rocked Abule Ado area on Sunday, with 17 people reportedly dead and over 70 houses destroyed.

Sanusi leaves Awe, regains freedom

 

  The dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has regained his freedom and is set to leave Awe, a town in Nasarawa state The deposed Emir was taken to Awe in Nassarwa state after his dethronement by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state.

Senate- HND now the minimum qualification for president, governors

 

  The Senate, on Thursday, passed for second reading, a constitution amendment bill which prescribes Higher National Diploma or its equivalent as the educational qualification required for anyone seeking to contest the office of the Nigerian President or state governors.

   The bill sponsored by a member of the Peoples Democratic Party from Plateau State, Senator Isfifanus Gyang, also prescribes National Diploma or its equivalent as the minimum qualification for federal and state lawmakers, The PUNCH reports. The bill seeks to alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to provide for the amendment of Sections 65 (2) (a), and 131 (d).
