Lagos State Shuts Down Schools

 


  The Lagos Government has announced the closure of public and private schools in the state starting from Monday, March 23rd, 2020.  In a statement on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo said the move is part of measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Senate Suspends Public Hearings Over Coronavirus

 

  The Senate is suspending all public hearings from Tuesday, March 24, until further notice. This follows the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.

Buhari Launches National Broadband Plan, Emergency Call Centre


     President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday launched the National Broadband Plan (2020 – 2025) in Abuja.
 
  The plan, essentially, is intended to deepen internet penetration in the country, according to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Mr Isa Pantami.

Coronavirus: Infected American came through Nigeria-Benin Rep land border



   Osagie Ehanire, minister of health, says an American citizen who came into Lagos through the Benin Republic border is among the new confirmed case of the coronavirus. On Tuesday, the country recorded the third case of the virus through a 30-year-old Nigerian who came into the country on March 13 through a British Airways flight.

House of Reps bans open worships, visitors to NASS over COVID-19



   The House of Representatives, after a two-hour debate on Wednesday, banned all forms of open worships across the country over the corona virus pandemic.

   It said the measure was based on cues from Saudi Arabia, Iran and the Vatican that have banned open worship. The lawmakers said Nigeria should act and suspend such large gatherings. They also banned all visitors from the National Assembly till further notice.
