Coronavirus cases will reach 1million cases globally in the next few days – WHO

 

  The World Health Organization has warned that the cases of Coronavirus could spiral to 1 million globally.

   According to the Director-General of WHO, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, even though relatively lower numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported from Africa, Central and South America, the virus could have serious social, economic and political consequences for these regions of the world.

Courts are expected to sit on urgent cases during lockdown- Attorney-general of the federation



  Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), says courts are expected to conduct proceedings despite the lockdown order issued by the president. Malami in a statement issued by Umar Gwandu, his special assistant on media, said only matters which are “urgent, essential or time-bound” should be attended to.

COVID-19: Portugal prolongs lockdown for two more weeks

 

  The Portuguese face at least another two weeks in lockdown after the government decided Wednesday to extend confinement measures as deaths from the COVID-19 epidemic near 200. The restrictions were first imposed on the 10-million population on March 19 but they have not been as extensive as in neighbouring Spain where more than 9,000 have died from the virus.

A man who coughed on a police officer and threatened to infect him with coronavirus was on Wednesday sentenced to six months in jail in Britain, a police statement said.
