Young man shot dead by an unidentified soldier in Warri

   A young man was shot dead in the city of Warri this morning. The late Mr joseph Pessu had gone out to get drugs for his pregnant fiancee and was chased and killed by the military personnel. More details later.

Oil marketers lose N3.5bn

   

  Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) says its members lost about N3.5 billion to the reduction in fuel price.  This was even as it decried the latest price cut, the second in less than a month after the last review on March 19, 2020.

The Executive Secretary of Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Abdulkadir Saidu, had said the action was in line with government approval of a new pricing regime, effective March 19 2020, which provided for the establishment of a price band within which Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are expected to sell at the retail stations.

‘‘Accordingly, the PPPRA wishes to further clarify the Guiding Price Band (with effect from April 1, 2020) of N123.50 per litre – Lower Band (LB), N125.00 per litre – Upper Band (UB). Members of the public and all oil marketing companies are to be guided accordingly.’’ he said

TY Danjuma Inaugurates Task Force For Victim Support Fund (VSF)

   The Chairman of the Victims Support Fund, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd) has inaugurated the Victim Support Fund (VSF) Task Force on COVID-19.

Coronavirus: Plateau state shuts its borders

 

  The Plateau State government has announced the closure of all its borders, following increased cases of Coronavirus in the country.

  Secretary to the government, Professor Danladi Atu who made the announcement added that there will be no exit or entrance into the state except those on essential services that are to be cleared by security agencies and preliminary test by health workers.

  Atu revealed that they have been receiving cash donations, food items and medical equipment,  with a leading financial institution donating N28.5million. Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities have also offered hand sanitizers and enlightenment materials as its contributions to the fight against COVID-19.

Coronavirus cases will reach 1million cases globally in the next few days – WHO

 

  The World Health Organization has warned that the cases of Coronavirus could spiral to 1 million globally.

   According to the Director-General of WHO, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, even though relatively lower numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported from Africa, Central and South America, the virus could have serious social, economic and political consequences for these regions of the world.
