Oyo records two new cases of COVID-19

 

    Oyo state on Tuesday recorded two additional cases of novel coronavirus. The disclosure was made Tuesday evening by the State Chairman of COVID-19 Task Force who is also the State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

Chinese Ejecting Africans From Homes, Hotels Over Claims Of Importing Coronavirus Into Country

 

   While the world has adopted various measures to combat Coronavirus, Chinese authorities are beginning to eject Africans from their homes and hotels over claims that they were importing the virus into the country.

   Africans in Guangdong and Fujian Province mostly affected are lamenting the move by the Chinese, fearing that they could be exposed to the virus. Africans in China, who confirmed the ejection to our correspondent, said the government was employing force to eject foreigners from their homes.

Lagos enforce entry age into JSS1 at 12 years



    The Lagos State Government will from the next academic session enforce the entry age of 12 years for pupils seeking admission into junior secondary school (JSS1) to check the registration of under-aged kids. Also, a fine of N50,000 for first offenders, N100,000 for second offenders as well as warning letters to close the school in case of further violation.

Seven COVID-19 Patients Discharged In Abuja

 

  Seven patients receiving treatment for COVID-19 have tested negative and discharged in Abuja.  Muhammad Bello, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, broke the news on Tuesday.

  Bello said, “Let me begin by appreciating the high level of compliance so far exhibited by residents of the FCT with regards to the 14-day restriction of movement as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari with a view to curb the Coronavirus pandemic.  “This restriction was necessitated by the need to contain the spread of the virus within our community in order to safeguard lives.

  “The level of compliance from residents is proof that we all understand the magnitude of the challenge before us and are ready to come together to fight this enemy so we can return to our normal way of life as quickly as possible.  “I am delighted to announce that the first set of patients totalling seven are ready to be discharged after their final tests results returned negative.

COVID-19: FG seeks N2.53trn from World Bank, IMF

     

   The Federal Government is seeking $6.9 billion (equivalent of N2.53 trillion) from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, the African Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank to mitigate the impact of the ravaging coronavirus pandemic on Nigeria’s economy.
