NCC denies reports it renewed Airtel’s operating license for another 10 years

   


The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC)  has debunked reports it has renewed the operating license of telecommunications giant, Airtel for another 10 years.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Olusegun Ogunsanya during the media launch of Airtel’s corporate social responsibility programme in Lagos, last week made the claim that it's license had been renewed for the next ten years but the NCC has denied the claim saying it was still considering Airtel's application.

NCDC Confirms 203 New COVID-19 Cases As Federal Government Places Six States On Red Alert

 


 Nigeria on Sunday recorded an increase in new Covid-19 cases after 203 infections and one death were confirmed across the country. According to data from the Nigeria Centre of Disease Control, Lagos took the lead with 186 new cases. The rest of the cases were from Edo (4), Oyo (4), Rivers (4), FCT (3), and Kwara (2).

   This brings the number of cases recorded in the country to 169,532 – although 164,699 have been discharged – and a death toll of 2,127. The surge in new cases comes as the Federal Government on Saturday placed six states on red alert amid fears of a third wave triggered by the Delta variant of the virus.

Court Halts Impeachment of Zamfara Deputy Governor

   



    Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday restrained the Zamfara State House of Assembly, the Chief Judge, and others from effecting the impeachment of the state’s Deputy Governor, Mahdi Gusau.

A Nigerian man identified as John Christopher, who was arrested by the Edo State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife, said he had no intention to kill her. The waste manager during an interview with The Punch revealed why he regrets his action.

I am a private waste manager. I am a driver. I have a truck I use for refuse collection. I am not registered with the Edo State Government but I used to work under a boss who is registered. But when the residents got to know me in the business, they decided to patronise me. I am Urhobo, from Delta State, but I was born and brought up in Edo.
