US Court Issues Arrest Warrant For Abba Kyari

   


    A US court has issued an arrest warrant for a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari over his links to alleged fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

   The arrest warrant was issued by a U.S magistrate judge, Otis Wright, a spokesperson in the United States Attorney’s Office confirmed to Channels Television. According to documents unsealed this week in the US, Mr Kyari had arrested and jailed one Chibuzo Vincent, at the behest of Hushpuppi.

Buhari Pledges To Increase Education Budget By 50% In Next Two Years

 


 

    President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to increase education budget by 50% in the next two years. The president made the pledge on Wednesday a the ongoing Global Education Summit in London, United Kingdom. The commitment was contained in a document titled, ‘Heads Of State Call To Action On Education Financing Ahead Of The Global Education Summit’.

Court adjourns murdered Enugu make-up Artist trial to August 25

 


    Justice K.I Okpe of Enugu State High Court has adjourned the case of Ijeoma Nneke, the makeup artist murdered in the state when she was called for a job to August 25th, 2021.

   The prosecuting counsel, Ngozi Ikem Okoye from Department of Public Prosecution, DPP, sought permissions from the court to enable her correct the typo on their charges and also file a motion that will enable come up with more witnesses into the matter.

  The defense Counsel, Chuma Oguejiofor argued that calling of new witnesses is not necessary as the matter has not been entered properly by the court. The suspects were in court but the judge, Justice K.I could not take plea on the matter and subsequently, adjourned to August 25th, 2021 for commencement of the case.

   The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has dissolved all the 36 standing Committees of the 9th Assembly with immediate effect.

JUST IN: Despite Order, DSS Fails To Produce Igboho’s Detained Aides In Court

   


    The Department of State Services (DSS) has defied a court order to produce the 12 detained aides of Yoruba-nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo,  popularly known as Sunday Igboho. Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered the DSS to produce in court on July 29, the 12 aides who have been in their custody since July 2, 2021.

   Their case was expected to proceed regardless of the annual court vacation slated to begin on July 26. But since the DSS failed to bring the aides before the court on Thursday, the case has stalled yet again, with Justice Egwatu now issueing another order, asking the DSS to produce the 12 aides in court on Monday, August 2. While giving the order, he stressed that when a court of competent Jurisdiction, gives an order, such must be respected and obeyed.
