New Mercedes Benz Cars to Detect Car Parking Spaces in a New Piece of Technology

According to Daily mail  Mercedes  Benz drivers will be able to find each other car parking spaces in a new piece of technology due to be released early next year. The project will notify drivers of vacant spaces when driving below 34MPH. Mercedes is working with parts supplier Robert Bosch GmbH. Both companies hope the technology will be available in early 2017. The software is initially being piloted on the E Class series.

Parts supplier Robert Bosch GmbH and Daimler AG (the parent company of Mercedes) are currently working on a pilot project that will notify drivers of vacant car parking spaces after a fellow Mercedes, when not looking to park, passes by a space.
In a joint statement released by the two companies on Friday, Mercedes' head of digital vehicle and mobility, Sajjad Khan, said it is possible a number of their models could support the software that is being developed.
If a car then also has the right sensors, it's logical to try and use the data generated while driving past to help speed up the search for a parking spot,' Khan added.
The first step of the system will share information to drivers of the probability of finding a space to park in a particular street.
The second stage to be implemented in the software targets sharing real-time information on the exact location and size of spots to create a digital parking map that can be displayed in the car, reported Bloomberg on Friday.
